H.R. McMaster says alleged Putin meeting with Wagner chief is damage control

Moscow is claiming Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with the leader of the mercenary Wagner Group days after the group's failed mutiny. Retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster joined CBS News to talk about that alleged meeting, the U.S. supplying Ukraine with cluster bombs and Ukraine's path to NATO membership.

Why would Putin meet personally w/ Prigozhin after his armed mutiny? The Wagner Group rebelled against the Russian Govt. They took over a city without a fight from the Russian army. They then stood down after shooting down Russian aircraft. Russian politics don’t make sense sometimes. Their goals & methods are inscrutable
