1)We closed our coal mines. 2)We import millions of tons of wood chip through Immingham docks.We burn it and produce CO2. 3)We grow acres of maize(and subsidies farmers to do so) to go into subsidised anaerobic digesters to produce methane, which we burn, producing

Please explain why the Mendenhall Glacier is revealing stumps and logs from a forest that used to be in that Alaskan location around 1000 years ago. The same applies to Norway's Lendbreen pass glacial ice that is revealing human artefacts estimated to date from around 1000 years ago too. All of this ties in with the Vikings who settled in parts of Greenland and grew crops. Apparently, Viking graves have been discovered and at least one had tree roots through it from a prior time (medieval warm period) when trees grew there when it was warmer. I find it confusing knowing this and then getting showing that 2000 year Hockey Stick graph! Seriously!

Great talk. I do worry that when talking about power we only acknowledge the affect of power on people of colour. Poor white communities in the UK and around the world are also disproportionately impacted by environmental harm. You only need to visit Merthyr Tydfil that home the largest landfill in the UK and a giant open cast coalmine which has literally removed a mountain from the landscape. Can you imagine that happening in a middle class area of the UK. There is no way it would have happened but we are happy to allow it to happen to places like Merthyr Tydfil.

Whatever happened to " mass civil disobedience"?

We can all protest until the end of time. Nothing will change. Governments allow protests as a necessary safety valve to maintain their control.

Mass civil disobedience is the only action that " might " make governments take the necessary action ie. declare a state of mass mobilisation akin to a state of war.

XR, please reinstate " mass civil disobedience " in your key description.

And for the nth time I will propose withholding taxes funding non- sustainable activities of govts as the action most likely to attract a sufficiently large mass of citizens to practice civil disobedience.

Where's the commitment to rebel, to disobey the law because governments have not honoured their part of the social contract?

It's only if XR stands up to this description that we have some small window of hope.

In the presentation you talk about " arrestables", those special XR People who are prepared to be arrested.

Radical change stemming from mass civil disobedience only works if there are too many people breaking the law for the authorities to arrest, as Roger Hallam knows well.

This is why I will keep trying to persuade you to abandon street protests, and go for governments' jugular, taxation.

I truly believe millions of British citizens would pledge to withold payment of that portion of taxes identified by XR research as being not conducive to addressing the twin crises.

Starved of revenue, governments would be forced to finally listen to you.
