Still with a V6, the 2025 Ford Ranger 2.7L Review // The Ranger to get?

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2025 Ford Ranger 2.7L EcoBoost V6 mid-size pickup. There are three powertrain options, the base Ford Ranger engine is a 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 2.7L twin turbocharged V6 has 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor is powered by a 3L Ecoboost V6, 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Ford reengineered the suspension, powertrains, connectivity, advanced driver assist software and improvements have been made to the fully boxed high strength steel frame on the new Ford Ranger. The Ranger has a 5-foot bed with a maximum payload of 1,805 pounds and can tow 7,500 pounds.
The wheelbase of the Ford Ranger is 2” wider creating more interior space with improved fit and finish and new technology. It comes standard with an 8” digital driver display and a 10” touchscreen. There are larger screens available, a 12.4” driver display and 12” touchscreen. The Ranger has tons of storage with a large centre console storage bin, big door pockets, an available second upper glovebox and Ford has improved second row storage with under-seat rear cargo bins, new fold-flat rear seats and there’s room behind the seats to store tools or other equipment. The XLT model we are driving does not have push button start. I have to say it’s weird using a key, definitely feels old school. The Lariat model has push button start.
Here's the 2025 pricing in Canada, XL 2.3T 4WD $44,365 CAD, XLT 2.3T/2.7TT 4WD $48,725 CAD/$50,975 CAD, Lariat 2.3T/2.7TT 4WD $56,590 CAD/$58,840 CAD and Raptor Full-time 4WD $80,215 CAD. Pricing includes, freight, PDI and fees.
In the US, XL 2.3T 2WD/4WD $32,980 USD/$36,625 USD, XLT 2.3T 2WD/4WD $36,010 USD/$39,495 USD, XLT 2.7 TT 4WD $41,690 USD, Lariat 2.3T 2WD/4WD $43,780 USD/$47,265 USD, Lariat 2.7 TT 4WD $49,460 USD and Raptor $55,720 USD.
Ford Ranger fuel economy, the 2.3T gets 11.9L/100 km, 20 MPG city and 9.8L/100 km, 24 MPG highway. 2.7TT 12.6L/100 km, 19 MPG city and 10.2L/100 km, 23 MPG highway.

I have the 2024 2.7 ranger xlt in the same colour. I have had it for about a month and I love it. So much power and easy to park.

Hi. I am watching your channel from Australia. Love your reviews, The couple approach from two people who enjoy a good drive is very refreshing. I am glad to see you finally have got to experience the Ranger. It is the best seller in Australia. Whilst full-size trucks are growing in Australia, the mid-size is the largest segment here. For everyday use, the mid-size is popular for tradies and families. The latest Ranger was developed with VW's Amarok. I'm not sure you get that in Canada/USA. We get the Raptor as well in exactly the same spec as you do. The hero engine in the Ranger is the V6 diesel as we do not get petrol versions as the price of fuel here is high. That being said, the VW Amarok gets an Ecoboust 2.3T in its halo model. Ford also does an SUV version of the Ranger here called tge Everest, which also sells well here. This is my first comment on your channel, and I felt compelled to say something after seeing this review. Keep up the good work. I am sure you guys would love Australia if you had the chance to visit.

I own a 2019 F-150 XLT Crew Cab with the 2.7L Ecoboost. It has been a great vehicle. It can tow 8500 lbs, has tons of room and gets 22 mpg on the highway if I keep it at 75.
I enjoy your videos.

Another excellent review with a lot of good points discussed. The picture of Andrea in the flatbed was priceless!

The look on Zack’s face when Andrea was off roading was priceless. That’s how I look when I am sitting on the dentist chair during a root canal. White knuckles and hoping the novacaine takes as the drill goes into my mouth.

In the Raptor, Zach looked like he needed a drink prior to sitting in the passenger seat! Love the Ranger Love your format, another excellent review!

I have the 2024 Range 2.7 Lariat. My previous pickups include a Ford F250, a Chevy 10; a Chevy Silverado, a Dodge 2500 and a Ram 1500 Limited. This Ranger is the best truck I have ever owned …. So far.

This is clearly one of the best Fords of all time. With the 2.7 v6 and integrated touch screens Ford nailed it. Bravo Ford!!!

I like the key. I just replaced a key for my Ram, it cost me $425, key and programming….for a key!! I miss the days going to my local hardware store and having a key made for $3.00

Last month picked up the XLT with the FX4 package. Replaced my wife’s Bronco Sport. Love the V6 power, and the center stack screen. Downside it is already in the shop because of the rear door does not lock. With or without the key and no toggle in the door to lock it separately.😢 currently waiting on parts. 😢

I bought my 2024 Taos Black Edition (Canada) on Oct 31 and am absolutely in love! I live in Winnipeg and I put 19inch winter rims and tires and it is a beast! The tech is great, everything is fantastic. I was able to get a really good deal because they had a sale on and I get a lot of compliments on it. I personal love the way the 2024 looks vs the 2025 as it has a classic look. Thank you for your videos ! You helped me a lot and I’m so happy

When I was shopping in the segment, I wanted to really like the Ranger, but ultimately decided to get the Tacoma for two main reasons. First being able to have a 6 foot bed and second not having engine start stop technology.

I'm good with the key. What's the diff if you have to carry a fob or a key. No battery stuff down the road and if you loose one a key at the dealership is way less and easy to get. We have a 2.3 XLT and a 2.7 XLT 4wd on the way. I drove all mentioned and I almost bought the Colorado but the ranger was slightly more comfy especially the drivers seat and was about 1k less base motor to base motor and offered more content, Imagine that in todays market place. The 2.7 is in a league of its own. Way improved with smooth excellent power delivery. Good review guys.

Great review guys. Love that it has a traditional shifter and that you keep on them (all makers) about the fakakta shifters! Also, it probably actually cost them more to do the manual ignition key these days, .. it really doesn't figure. Did I see any rear seat air vents? Add back in a 6-ft plus bed availability like the Toyota and Nissan have (and both Ranger and Colorado used to/last gen) and I'm in.

I inherited A Chevy S10 and drove it for
2 decades....small trucks are so handy.
All are pricey now....I would love to see
a Santa Cruz/Ranger/Maverick that is an
actual 'work truck' I do hiking/camping stuff
but many trucks now are too nice on the inside.
No leather or shiny plastics...not enough tech
run and office from the road...just a work truck.
We all don't need a truck that's a transformer 🤣

I am indifferent about the key vs push button. I can take it or leave it. I'm also not totally brand loyal. I downsized from a Ram to a 2024 Ranger. However, due to really bad experiences with import brands, I won't but any import brand vehicles. I love the my new Ranger and really enjoy driving it. I find it to be a perfect fit for me and it has exceeded my expectations. Full-size trucks have grown too big and I got tired of having to get on a ladder just to wash the hood of my 2012 Ram.
