Recent updates in the field of polycythemia vera

Prithviraj Bose, MBBS, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses recent and upcoming updates in the field of polycythemia vera. Dr Bose highlights the use of ropeginterferon alfa-2b, an agent which has already received approval in Europe, and rusfertide, a hepcidin mimetic shown to reduce the need for phlebotomy. Ropeginterferon alfa-2b approval was based on the results of the Phase II PROUD-PV (NCT01949805) and CONTI-PV (NCT02218047) trials.
