lyrics:
When Israel was in Egypt land,
Let my people go!
Oppressed so hard they could not stand,
Let my people go!
Go down, Moses,
way down in Egypt land,
tell old Pharao
to let my people go!

"Thus spoke the Lord", bold Moses said,
Let my people go!
"If not I'll smite your first-born dead!"
Let my people go!
Go down...

Your foes shall not before you stand,
Let my people go!
and you'll possess fair Canaan's land
Let my people go!
Go down...

You'll not get lost in the wilderness
Let my people go!
with a lighted candle in your breast.
Let my people go!
Go down...

As a small child in the foothills of the Appalachians, I simply sang the songs I heard others sing...and my grandfather adored Paul Robeson. Like Robeson, he had a deep, rich kind of voice...though no one was quite as good as Paul Robeson. We loved his records and his films. In those days, no one cried "cultural appropriation". All I know is that Paul Robeson's soul speaks to mine in ways I can't quite explain and he has seen me safely through many hardships. Whenever I needed just a bit more courage, I found it in his voice and in his gaze. I wish I knew how to thank the man.

As so many people have already said below: what a Voice!
Paul Robeson was a true Renaissance Man: a Musician, Actor, Athlete - and a man of great moral courage.

Love you Harriet Tubman you're my hero. Rest in power queen. Paul Robeson's voice was meant to deliver this message.

A gut-wrenching poem placed to music sung by an incredible artist honoring not only Ms Tubman but also the millions of enslaved people who are still fighting for their freedom and rights in the America they built.
