2012 Ford Focus Titanium Review // A Good Car with a Fatal Flaw

I'm finally back with another car review! This is the 2012 Ford Focus. This car is specifically outfitted with the Titanium trim package. Found a titanium model for $5000 CAD on craigslist. And it’s in excellent condition. I’m debating between this and an 08 Honda Accord Ex-L v6.

I am buying this exact car in blue candy with the same trim and rims but with a 5 speed manual transmission and I'm so excited. To my knowledge there aren't that many Titanium manuals around. Do you have any advice?

I bought my 2012 Ford Focus brand new (in August of 2011). While it is a comfortable drive, I have experienced a number of transmission problems. Having a automatic transmission with an internal manual shift is a very bad idea. After the transmission "update" to fix the jerking I experienced when backing up the first time, my miles/gallon immediately dropped from 54 to 42 and is now down to about 27. It has been a costly car to maintain as the parts are cheaply made and break easily. My first experience was when I tried to change the battery (which is a bit inconveniently placed I might add). The bolts that hold it down were shaped like anchors and snapped in two when I attempted to remove them (I replaced them with regular bolts and have had no problem since though.). Recently I tried to change a radiator hose and accidentally snapped the line leading to my coolant temp sensor in the process. It appears to me that the top priority for Ford when making this car was to ensure that their mechanics would get a lot of work. The main bright spot was the aforementioned comfortable seats along with a well-designed interior and chassis body. All things considered, the negatives outweigh the positives....especially considering the fact that my end cost was $28K.
