Vivek Ramaswamy, a close ally to President-elect Donald Trump, is linking U.S. immigration woes, and the hiring of tech workers overseas, to an apparent American preference for certain 90s sitcom characters. CBS News' Taurean Small has more on the latest take regarding immigrants.

My husband has worked in tech for years, he has lobbied in Washington against H1B because of the number of Americans who are being denied tech jobs in favor of foreign workers who will accept lower wages and put up with poor working conditions. The industry doesn’t have a problem finding qualified Americans for their jobs, they have a problem finding qualified American engineers willing to work for poor wages under bad conditions.

So, I guess the anti-DEI crowd wants some type of DEI policy for tech now?

HB one Visa holders are cheaper than hiring Americans. It’s always about money and how much it cost.

I like how Vivek tells Americans how much they suck but became rich because of a pump and dump scheme, and then pretended he was meritorious and hard working by building a legit company. Yes, Americans….you voted in this oligarchic mess

This is how immigrants that move to America talk about Americans. I’m not surprised, I’m pretty sure this conversation was discussed at his family’s dinner table nightly.

Because he's the child of immigrants who is still ticked that he is Screech instead of Slater.

Well, have to agree we are dumb... we voted for a bunch of oligarchs... truth hurts.

American tech graduates will not have a chance to get the experience they need if we allow H1-B continue taking our jobs.

lol, the hard core MAGA voter is finally realizing that for Trump is Trump and billionaires first. Not America.

I like how Vivek and Elon think that US Engineers are worthless and they need outside talent. America first?

The problem for these tech-bros is the culture. Freedom is a problem for them, and so are labor laws. Not to mention the work-life balance that the free Americans deserve and demand. They want slaves, working for low wages and ridiculous hours, low if any benefits, and unsafe conditions. How can Americans compete? They are willing to put up with these things as they work toward citizenship the way Elon did.
There is no problem with the American worker, only with the rich wanting to make themselves richer on the backs of the poor.

Watch Vivek’s downfall? He just doesn’t get it? He has not heard Ann Coulter message well but he is going to be surprised.

Why's he doing it? Because he is extremely out of touch with how Americans felt about 90s sitcoms.

The Urkel character in Family Matters was so loved by the viewers that the entire show premise got rewritten around him. Even when they allowed Jaleel to be himself in the Stefen character, Urkel was the favorite.

The funny part is that Screech wasn't even smart or intelligent, he was just a dork. There's a difference between being a genius nerd (i.e. The Big Bang Theory) vs just being uncool and unpopular.

What happened to America first? Oh, wait, both Vivek and Elon Musk are...

It's awful that the people who supported people like Vivek are going to make us all suffer for their ignorance and blind support of a group of "leaders" that have no intentions whatsoever of making things better for average working Americans in this country.

The fact that y'all are calmly trying to report on this stuff is melting my brain.

Its not about talent in USA being unavailable or a shortage but its about getting those workers CHEAPER by shopping globally for workers who will take US jobs for the minimum legally mandated Visa wages. Musk and Swarmy are guys who are major shareholders of companies and want to get high skilled workers for lower cost and so positively impact the profit margin and their shares.
* These are facts - this global shopping for Visa workers oversupply issue then depresses the wages of the high skilled sector and also inhibits the training and education beign funded by companies of local workers when they can import cheaply instead of talent investment.
* There is No problem with these folks pushing their own best self-interests but dont try to fool me that its anything else.

The Apprentice. That’s the show that took America down.
