Hannah Gadsby made headlines this week after an interview where she decided to fight the comedian Dave Chappelle for his transphobic jokes. Dave Chappelle came under fire recently after he performed a long-standing stand-up bit that mocked transgender people during his comedy special for Netflix. The segment garnered lots of heat across social media, but no one seemed to get offended more than comedian Hannah Gadsby. Gadsby, recently decided to speak about the controversial transphobic jokes Dave Chappelle said on his show.

Trans Australian comedian and artist, Hannah Gadsby is no stranger to controversy. She's known for subverting her act; playing on stereotypes; then flipping them on their head to create new comedy material. But the biggest joke might be Dave Chappelle who booked Hannah Gadsby on his show “The Closer" that was considered transphobic and stereotypical towards the LGBTQ+ community.

Hannah Gadsby also recently criticized the CEO of Netflix Ted Sarandos on social media. This is because, after Dave's controversial standup routine, Ted along with some other Netflix executives, released a letter defending Dave Chappelle and his standup special, calling it "diversity" and accidentally including Hannah Gadsby's name in it.

Hannah then said that Netflix, the streaming giant, is acting like an "amoral algorithm cult" that won't stand up for what is right, and has also criticized them for adding her name in the email while defending Dave, which increased the hate and outrage she already was receiving.

You’re saying that Dave Chappell paints the trans and gay communities with a broad and stereotypical brush? Have you heard Hannah talk about straight white males?

I was about to watch this, but when you opened by saying “controversial AND problematic” I immediately stopped the video to write this, then moved on. You will probably say something in relation to your victim status or my insensitivity, but you should take it as constructive criticism. If you had only said “controversial” (I know this because that didn’t make me want to shut it off) I wouldn’t have had that reaction. But once you politicized it and shared your negative opinion at the jump, I shut it off. Just saying, if you’d like to reach more people, try not to alienate people immediately after they click on your videos
