The worst part about the ending is that it didn’t show like an adult Andy watching the movie with like his kid, and just saying “What a cash grab.”

The best part about this movie is how it has led to people remembering the Buzz Lightyear cartoon. The exact opposite reaction Pixar probably intended

The whole "shot down and denied followed by huge pay off" joke bit was actually done pretty well by the lego movie, the astronaut guy wanting to make a spaceship the whole movie and all that.

This isn’t the movie Andy watched that made him want a Buzz action figure, this is the soulless live action reboot cash-grab Andy watched when he was 20 something and complained about on Twitter for not being as good as the original cartoon

I don't understand why they didn't use Buzz Lightyear's theme from the Toy Story movies, it's so good

There's no way everyone forgot that Andy DID NOT BUY BUZZ but was instead gifted to him.
Every single review I've seen mentions that Andy bought him and I'm just like huh??

No wonders why Andy gave away his Buzz Lightyear toy so easily after growing up

Pixar really could’ve had a cool post credits scene with Andy watching the movie. Totally fumbled the bag

The idea of “This is the movie that Andy loved” is an awesome idea in my opinion.

The problem was that this does not feel like the movie Andy would have fallen in love with.

This movie isn’t a flop, it’s failing with style

They should’ve gotten Patrick Warburton to voice Zurg. It’d be a great reference to the cartoon/foreshadowing since he voiced Buzz in the show

4:19 That's the entire point of the movie though. Buzz is so occupied with trying to correct his mistake that he becomes blinded to the fact that things turned out mostly ok for everyone in spite of it. He's so determined to change the past, that he completely misses out on the present, and that's why future Buzz is only interested in traveling back in time and undoing his mistake, and isn't interested in present Buzz's concerns about all the things that will be erased if he does so. That's effectively the turning point of the movie for present Buzz, and the point that he realises his real mistake was being so obsessed with what he views as his big mistake.

I always assumed Buzz was from a funner, sillier Star Wars kind of movie. Everything I've seen from this movie is aesthetically very gritty. It feels off.

Wall-e being a movie that exists and made by Pixar would make you think Pixar of all people would know better about how to make an interesting Sci-Fi movie. I’m not expecting something as gutsy as a movie that has no dialogue for a good chunk of the movie but still.

Seems like Disney also wants to forget there was already a fun Lightyear movie based in the Toy Story universe way back during the VHS days. It was goofy and didn't take itself too seriously. But it actually knew what it was, unlike 2022's snoozefest.

The brilliance of Zurg in TS2 is that you know he’s not an actual threat. But he’s designed so well, the lighting is so great, and he’s played up so well that you actually gasp when he arrives in the elevator. You could put Duel of the Fates there and it’d be even better.

the movie feels like the cinematic reboot of the Saturday morning cartoon Andy watched as a kid. A movie reboot that college-age Andy showed up for the midnight premier to watch and left feeling unsatisfied, and then had to ask 'was the movie BAD, or am I just not the target audience, anymore?' Which, naturally just leads him to re-watch the cartoon to see if it's as good as he remembers it.
Since the Toy Story franchise has largely been about themes of nostalgia and the ways we relate to our childhood via the toys in our lives, and the worth we place on these nostalgic objects, I think it would have been more interesting to make a movie with parallel stories: Andy revisiting the TV show of his childhood, and Buzz Lightyear's evolution through media and time.

Sox was the best part of the film. He was honestly a really funny and charming character and it’s really easy to screw that up and make him annoying, but not once did I feel that way.

"He was so enthusiastic about using it but everyone kept shooting him down and when the time finally came for him to use it it would have so much payoff" so benny with his spaceship in the lego movie

Wow, if I had a nickel for every time Chris Evans played a character who went forward in time but didn’t age while also forming a relationship with an old and deceased friend’s relative, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice, right?
