Sleeping overnight at a Walmart (the less glamorous side of #vanlife)

That's one of my biggest fears for van lifers, that now that this lifestyle is taking traction and a lot of people are starting to live off the grid, that some legislators are going to pick up on it and find a way to outlaw vehicle dwelling, or that Walmart would ban overnight parking!!😮

The whole point of going stealth in a van is to be able to park anywhere. You don’t have to park at Walmart. Just find a safe residential street etc.

Walmart should not ban parking no one else is there at that time as long as they leave by store hours and alot of them go into the store and spend money so it's a win for them.

I live in New Zealand … freedom camping here is pretty much banned
Some people who are selfish, lazy and dirty have ruined van life for the many that are respectful, clean and quiet….
Even areas that let people camp in their car parks for no monetary gain, (not supermarkets or stores) have decided to stop as they have had to keep putting up these sorts of signs.. ‘do not litter/do not poop all over the floor/ do not vomit all over the entryway etc etc
It is absolutely maddening!! If you see people behaving in a way that is causing everybody to be penalised … maybe take photos of them and their van, post it online/ send it to papers/ police anything!!! DO something to try and minimise this kind of slack attitude (without harming yourself)
