We should give of our time and money as God leads us. We own nothing in this world. Everything we have belongs to God. We should give from our hearts not because someone has told us to. Tithing is from the Old Testament law. We are under Grace and we give freely of ourselves and all that we have to Him who first loved us.

You are so wise and blessed my warns in I Cor 6:9-10 that the greedy and idolaters will not inherit the kingdom of can't lose our salvation (its by grace through faith) but we can forfeit our inheritance in the kingdom of God by robbing Him of what belongs to Him (tithes and offerings). Sadly, I've heard less than 3% of Christians means that most of the Church has quenched the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit the Christian life is impossible.

I do always remind myself that I can never out give God. Trying to practice tithing as much as I can. It's hard but I know that it can be done. After all, it's not my money. ^_^

Love you Nick but please go steady on teaching tithing - if we’re not careful people get hold of the wrong end of the stick (sorry to use what is to you an inappropriate expression!) It can all to easily can be misconstrued and become ‘Works’ allowing folk to think it is earned by their efforts, when salvation is found in Jesus by Faith Alone. Our outworking responses to the Lord are to be encouraged but all too often have been used by churches as legalistic obligations - even a condition of membership - when even ‘membership’ is unsupported in Scripture. Time is so short, the Lord is coming back VERY soon for His true church (Those born again, Bible believers who are looking to Him). Please stick to what you do best - telling the world of their great need of a Saviour -like in your prison ministry. Please understand these comments are purely intended to encourage you in the tremendous gift the Lord has given you.
