I turned 2 in '78, but I can tell you right now, I never saw that toy advertised in any catalogue, nor did I ever see it in any toy sections of the department store...!

I remember having one of those when I was a kid. I mowed a few yards and raked alot of leaves to be able to afford it, only to have a bigger kid come along a couple of weeks later and forcefully take it from me. I got him back by swiping every bike in the neighborhood and hiding them behind his house. Bullies got payback for their deeds in my day, we didn't go home crying to our parents...

I haven't heard anyone mention "The Big Ear" sold by Radio Shack in the 70s. My dad bought me one. I could sit on the front porch and hear people talking across the street!

The toy was so good you could be in one sky rise apartment and listen in on the apartment across the street with their windows closed. The government requested the halt manufacturing of the toy.

I used to play with that every summer when visiting cousins. They had the best toys. Evil Kenevel stuff and the best electric car race tracks. Gootimes!

Yeah I used to have this toy and yes it worked very well at least to listen to the police when they came over to the neighbor's house it's pretty wicked

I like the Sonic Blaster better. Every time iI fired it the Nam vets would hit the dirt. Two years later, now in Nam myself I learned why. The damned things sounded exactly like an NVA mortar being fired.

my dad used one to listen in when i was telling child protective services that the "big green monster" jumps out and kills me every day.

He immediately cleared up the accusations of my dad beating me.

the big green Monster was on a video game. and one day when my teacher saw me looking sad and coaxed me into telling who hurts me. it was the closed thing u could think of to me being abused at home... CRAZY AF! LOL

I had the remake I found in the trash and I put a battery in it and it worked. Cool parabolic microphone. Lots of fun listening in on conversations from my treehouse.
