People always lament the open world being cut, but honestly Alan Wake's greatest asset is its episodic pacing. You can knock out two episodes in one play session and be extremely satisfied with the development of the story and the gameplay. And I don't have a lot of faith a small dev like Remedy could pull off an open world in 2006.

Anyway, Alan Wake is as incredible as you'd expect from Remedy and is perfect Halloween spooky game fodder.

Max, Alan, and Jack sound like a trio of friends that have known each other for 20+ years, play fantasy football together, and they're all dads.

You forgot to mention that, for a while, Alan Wake was delisted from Steam because of music licensing and it was lost media for a brief time, at least on PC.

The Alan Wake American Nightmare remastered DLC should’ve included a level with Arn Anderson and his Glock

If I had a nickle for every time I heard about game inspired by twin peaks that had its staff fly out to a city to build a realistic city for their game I'd have two nickles, which is not a lot but it's weird that this has happened twice.

Alan Wake was honestly one of my favorite Remedy Games and I’m so happy it led to the creation of Control. I couldn’t have been more shocked to see this episode existing lol

I swear Matt keeps summoning these games with these videos, because Alan Wake II was just announced in the Game Awards!

You've opened a dark door with that Vanquish clip, Matthias.

An incredibly bright, bloom-filled arcade-inspired, fast and frantic door full of bullets and Fist of the North Star beatdowns against robots.

I knew enough about Alan Wake from following the games release when it coming out, yet never played it, jump to early this year when played (then platinumed) Control, and then seeing Alan Wake DLC really made me miss a game I never really touched, also, The "Remedy-Verse" is honestly really interesting... because I didn't think they could all fit together so well.

Ngl, hearing twin peaks classified as a “dramedy” shook me.

"They had built the game COMPLETELY WRONG."

I'm glad AW went in a more linear fashion. Looking at Deadly Premonitions, a strange "so bad it's actually good" game, and seeing what free roaming around a town could've turned into. I'm extremely grateful for the amazing version of AW we got.

I’m originally from Washington state, but have since moved. Remedy did a great job of not only showing what the PNW looks like, but the feeling of a cool fall day. It really makes me feel like I’m back home as I play the remaster.

I remember buying Red Dead and Alan Wake on the same day. I was so obsessed with the dark tone of Alan Wake and I still am. Great great game!

I finally played through control earlier this year. So excited to see what they do for the follow-up! Great video

The Remedy-Verse seems like something the CW would make as an official title.

Loved Alan Wake back then even though I sometimes struggled a lot playing on Hard and Alan's non existing stamina was a huge pain in the ass. Also, every new copy included a code for the first of the two DLCs which is an absolutely insane practice no one would do nowadays.

Ah yes, Alan Wake, the controll crossover DLC you can enjoy even if you only know Alan Wake by name and maybe some gameplay footage XD
