THing is, Kamala was asking for more than mics being unmuted (something she didn't want at first, just like Biden didn't), but she was asking for it to be a sitdown debate with notes they could use. In other words their campaign doesn't think Kamala can be concise enough within the time limit with mics being unmuted and needs notes to stay on track.

to help Biden so he does not get confused but it worked in Trump's favor
