Such a graceful plane and ironically a graceful exit by Mr Hodges.

Very sorry to see this - this was a fabulous model, and it was only luck that prevented serious injury. However, this problem (failure to throttle up on all engines) is always a possibility on a large multi, so the event organisers should have allowed way more distance between model and spectators to allow time and space to abort if needed.

Obviously they didn't do an engine run up check before flight.  Otherwise they would have noticed a bad engine immediately.  A very amateur mistake for a seasoned flight crew.

The world has now changed!!! This means no more cool plane at these events

Is that why it looks like a left rudder more then a full right to compensate? I fly and yes would dothe same in the short time you have to make decisions. Never had the area to work on something that big but have dreamed like most all of us looking.

He did everything right, with the exception of taking off.

The left-hand engine was not at RPM as the rest. He should have seen and heard that. Luck he did not kill someone. What a story to CYA.

Hopefully he has some other large scales, He probably doesn't wanna rebuild it because its too much money. I believe it costs him $75, 000 to rebuild it after it crashes.

(Where was I two years ago???)
Onto bigger and better things. Anyone else wanna see a B-36 or a B-52/X-15?

I would have caught that, casual old coot.

Real pilots make the same mistake. The old fart brainlocked. You can easily see full opposite rudder. The takeoff should have been aborted at the start of recognition of a full input. About 12 feet into the take off role. Nobody being hurt was despite his actions.
