It's been a woeful start to the season for Wednesday, but there's a new era incoming. Is Danny Röhl the man to take SWFC to the top?

Let's discuss it all, let me know what you think in the comments below!

Clearly, he knows what top-draw football and football teams look like. If even some of that rubs off on our club in the long term, however long he lasts and however successful he proves to be, then we have nothing to lose (pretty much a correct assessment of our current position) and plenty to gain from this appointment.

Good luck to you, Danny. Shake us up and then take us up, sir!

Very interested as to who he brings for his coaching team and what happens in January. Gets a free hit for me this season, if he keeps us up well done Danny but lets stick with the bloke if its league 1 next season

You've hit the nail on the head. Nobody can say how this appointment will pan out. Could be a stroke of genius. But as you say, he is going to want build something here so working with an owner who has vowed to put no more money into the club is an issue. And who would have thought that something as simple as an owner's press conference to introduce the new coach could have the entire fan base holding their breath & praying DC can just hold it together & remember what he's there to do. Never a dull moment supporting The Owls, but sometimes my nervous system would welcome a few more dull moments.

Im more concerned about the lack of quality we signed in the summer, lets hope he can get a tune out of them till January fingers crossed.

Lets hope he gets the backing from upstairs he needs. The fans just want to see 100% commitment.

He was going to get other offers if he held off - he didn't need to come to us. He's chosen to come here and there's no way he comes here if he doesn't back himself to do the job. And he's defintely got reasons to be confident in himself.
In terms of why Xisco over Rohl in the summer - you covered it in the video - Rohl's not been a manager.
Xisco had a championship promotion on his cv and interviewed well.
Chansiri went with that, it was a mistake but probably one of his less egregious ones. You can see why he did it.
And - no reason to think this except gut feeling - but remember one of the more bizarre comments he made in that infamous presser was along the lines of 'Xisco didn't have the most impressive cv but has done it before "? (paraphrasing but it was something like that)
I'm wondering now if Rohl was the 'impressive CV'. The gamble he didn't take in the summer, but wanted to. It's clear Rohl was our number 1 target this time around.

I'll pay for it most likely but i'm optimistic - i still think we signed some decent players over the summer, and Xisco just wasn't the man for the job. Hindsight's a wonderful thing but looking at the guy's cv since Watford... we shouldn't have been surprised. He's proper journeyman rubbish and conned DC with his nice guy act. He was a shit communicator too, which surprised me given the rep he came in with.
Rohl seems the real deal. He's done it all as an assistant, and coached world class players. The fact he was successful shows that these world class players listened and respected him, he's no mug. He is also clearly very, very ambitious. I really think he's going to get a lot more out of this group than xisco did and we'll stay up.

Also the press conference has already happened and wasn't live on YT this time around so at least Chansiri learnt that much 😅

I enjoyed Danny's interview and wish him all the best of course but I think Owls fans could be forgiven for harbouring a few doubts; I'm finding it hard to believe for example that Chansiri has a medium to long term (or indeed ANY) strategy in mind, and there's already a few making the (plausible?) argument that Danny will just see this as a low risk appointment to announce his presence as a manager - after all, how much of the blame would fall on him personally if we go down again? I'm hoping it's a spectacular success, but who knows? Better order in more popcorn supplies either way...

It’s a risk for him too. I reckon you’ve done well to get him. And all managers aren’t managers until they get their first job.

Totally disagree with all the options of a Warnock style fire fighter manager. We do not need a short term manager who controls the fire for a while then leaves. We need someone to put out the fire and try restructuring the players, style and attitudes. Good luck to Danny. Let’s hope the impatient crowd give him the chance to impress his ideas on the players in such a difficult job.

Make wonder if the agents had something to do with Cisco the usual agents messed with our club for 8 year I’ll ask the question has he gone somewhere else for advice at last ? Rohl looks like his own man are things changing in the owners mind set ? I hope so
