None of this exists now, except as a collection of parts that I have now and will be putting together into a working demonstration simulator.
Several youtube videos and websites that sing the praises of modernized lift controls fail to realize that most of these old installations did not allow the MG's (Motor-Generator) to run continuously, as demonstrated here.

Alas, an educated elevator photographer! Some of these guys are just goofy!...if they'd just shut up, it would be better. You don't see many basement drives these days. It appears they have the "generator saver" set rather wouldn't want them starting too often. All your videos are very good. My uncle, used to work for Dover. I got to see some neat ones, like the Compute-a-matic and the Traflow-matics in later years. The new solid state stuff is so boring.

Yes, indeed excellent video and oral presentation! It is a shame they are going to mod this elevator is in good working condition, was built like a tank! Older relay controller but reliable. I held a brief job as a maintenance engineer in a hotel with two traction elevators DC machine, MG sets, controller was about 15 years old (microprocessor) The MG ought to cycle off after an extended period of non elevator calls, higher electricity bills if it's running all the time. I recall one elevator I had taken out of service, due to complaints of door bouncing. Locked it off at the lobby with the doors open. Logged in the daily report book, called for service the following day. Later in the evening I heard the MG still running, the elevator has been shut off hours ago. Went to the machine room, flipped the secondary disconnect, logged it. Elevator was back up the next day.

theres a 1950 otis freight elevator in a warehouse I go to. Someone ran it down too far and it wouldnt raise. The repairmen were there about 8 minutes and charged 350 dollars. I would love to know what they did to override the limit switch.

Also, up in Cincinnati at the now GONE Sheraton Gibson Hotel were 5 Haughton gearless, with 2:1 roping. They were too cool. I got a Haughton This Car Up lobby panel!
