Gerhard Forde and Radical Lutheranism

What is "Radical Lutheranism?" as espoused by Gerhard Forde? What does it teach about the Law, the Gospel, and the Christian life?

God's will for humanity was perfectly exemplified in the life of Christ. He not only fulfilled (filled up) the law, but surpassed it as our human representative. Romans 3:21, "apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known." The law itself, when looking at Christ, says: "there it is!", so do the prophets. The law and the prophets testify that the law has been more than manifested in the incarnate Christ.

We are reminded of this substitutional righteousness of Christ each time we go to the altar. We do not ingest a piece of the law, where the law is present in and under the tablet. We partake of the body of Christ who is our righteousness before the Father, and we partake this testimony to ourselves, in that in his broken body and shed blood our sins have been forgiven. We partake of Christ, who for us is the fulfillment of the law. We do not partake of Christ as our example who shows us how to fulfill the law. That's a sectarian understanding of the law.

That's pretty radical without being Fordean. It's just Scriptural, while we also affirm Luther's teaching on this subject.

Luther is at least as radical as Paul while still proclaiming the veracity and validity of the atonement. No need to beat down on Forde et al in order to bring out the truth from Scripture, and the confessional Lutheran line directly from Luther.
