Because Mitch McConnell still holds to the strategy of blocking everything that is good for the United States of America or the American people - especially if proposed by Democrats.

I was watching a Russian talk about life in Russia, He claimed that in 2004 everything was great, but over the next 10 or so years, rights were restricted and just kept getting worse up till 2022, he said it was a slow continuous process that ended up where they are today, it reminded me of exactly what the Republicans are doing today.
