MARSHALL SV20 MODs: JTM/PLEXI tone shaper, Master+Loop Volume and much more...

The Marshall SV20 Studio Vintage is a 5/20W version of the famous PLEXI.
Even in 5W mode, this amp is too loud for being able to the preamp in the classic british crunch tone territory, while keeping an acceptable bedroom sound level.
We moded this amp with :
- a standard "pre-inverter" master volume
- an effect-loop return level pot. With the other master volume pot which can act as a send level, we can now adjust perfectly the signal level for the effects and have the best signal/noise ratio, and adjust the output sound level
- a JTM45/PLEXI tone stack selector (push-pull on the above pot)
- a 6-position rotactor which adjusts the "bright caps" values from the JTM45 style to the PLEXI style, with all positions in-between : we can now explore a whole range of tones and match perfectly the amp to the guitar, if this one is more or less bright
- a 12-inch CELESTION CREAMBACK speaker in place of the stock 10-inch speaker
- an internal bridge between NORMAL and TREBLE inputs (no need for external patch cable)
The amp becomes now a very versatile amp, able to give tones from JTM45 style to PLEXI style, from bedroom level to Gig-level !
All these mods are reversible because we used the original holes in the chassis. So the amp can be returned to its original configuration !
