I hate all the adults in this movie. They all failed to protect their beautiful boys.

I lived in Italy for a time during my high school years after having met my first love there.
Italy is a magical country, but as a gay man I know there's a sad side to the postcard-perfect destination. Stories like that one of Gianni and Nino I heard about them too many times back in the time and I still do from now and then.
My first love was from Verona, I should have seen it as a sign, because our relationship ended in blood and tears. We were meant for each other, but our 9 years of love didn't survive the blows of homophobia. So, for me, this movie hit home from beginning to end.
If someone tells you there's no homophobia in Italy, you can send them to me. There was homophobia in Italy and there still is. My husband of three years, also Italian, [I know, I didn't learn my lesson..], had to leave his country, his workplace and everything he worked for to give our relationship a chance because as much as we love Italy, our love is impossible there.
From the distance, we still hope for a change, for others, and the next generations, but, for us, it's already too late.

Out of all the problems that exist in the world, people chose to oppose love. LOVE WAS AND IS NEVER A CRIME.

The film is beautifully made and acted. The boys are classically beautiful. The ending is shockingly tragic.

I watched a few seconds of this video, and I instantly went searching for the movie because I just knew it was going to be a good movie. I have been wanting to watch a movie centered around a gay romance since so long, and it just looked perfect in this video. I knew that it was going to be a tragic ending because of the comments, and usually this stops me but I just really wanted to watch this movie for some reasons. So I watched it, literally just finished it as I'm writing.
Well, clearly, this is one of the best gay movies I have seen, cinematographically speaking it's amazing. The cast is incredible, and mostly, this has been one of the best made sweet teenage gay romance I've ever seen in a movie. The acting is impeccable, especially Gianni, I can't find the words but he has to be my favorite character/actor ever from gay movies.
The thing is, yes of course I was warned, it gets seriously bad for them in the last quarter of the movie, and so fast! It just goes downhill, underground so fast that I could barely process it. The homophobia in this movie was absolutely insane, I didn't see it coming. I mean, from everyone..
So yeah basically the entire last quarter of the movie I was seeing blurry because of the tears in my eyes.
And it just went on and on, I cried during the entire ending credits and still wants to right now. Just so you know, the last movie that made me cry tears was years ago. Like, tears of actual sadness and pain.
In a scene, a priest says "Deliver us from evil" about homosexuality. Watching this movie only makes me want to say the same thing, "Deliver us from evil" about what created homophobia, hate and violence towards innocent people looking for love.

Is it just me, or do both boys have beautiful hair?

This really shuttered my heart. They didn't deserve this! I hope that if there's really reincarnation, they will end up together or maybe they are living together happily. Thank you for bringing us this film 🫶🏽

I researched their story and found out the one in this movie with the straight hair played the boy that was fifteen years old and the other with the curly hair was twenty five years old when they were murdered. The biased police in the city claimed it was a murder-sucide. They both were found two weeks after they disappeared with their bodies decomposed and still holding hands when they were killed. The youngest guys thirteen year old nephew claimed he murdered the lovers because his family told him to but later changed his story that he nor his family had anything to do with the murders. Sadly, the police still never did anything till this very day. May they still be holding hands and loving each other today as they were when still alive.

Can I say the one with the dark blonde curls is strikingly beautiful. He is like a sculpture ❤ just something in art.

Sorry to break some hearts....this is a wonderful EDIT but it left out the fact that Nino's uncle shoots and murders them both in cold based on a true story 😱😱

I know that it may feel really “dramatic” and stuff, but this has been and in some cases it’s still, unfortunately, a reality here in Italy, especially in the smaller cities and towns. There’s still some kind of pride and way too much interest in what the people say, and thankfully generations and people are changing, along with the meaning of being a “man”, as if being gay changes your maturity level, but this depiction is as romantic in the boys’ scenes as it is raw in the adults’ ones.

As a gay man, I just cry in all of these short films, the homophobia for me it's the worst crime ever...

Well done representation of world-wide common theme - the fight to find self, through friendship, love, daring to BE - in spite of the forces of hate homophobia, and conformity.
