Amid changes in Real Estate, VP Harris proposes $25k in support for first-time homebuyers

There are some big changes impacting homebuyers this weekend -- and more could be on the way. Vice President Kamala Harris pledged to provide $25,000 in support for qualifying first-time homebuyers if elected in November.

Forbes says 13% of US population will be 1st time home buyers in 2024. This proposal will cost $1, 137, 000, 000, 000! $1.137 trillion! Who will pay for this if the government produces $0?

The other problem is if I am selling a home and I know that people will get that $25, 000, I will just raise the price I will sell it at which is essentially what the economist said. Not smart. She also cannot do this on her own-no one even in the Democratic party would support this.

Are you kidding me?!?! I scrimped & saved for a down payment. Why should anyone have $25K handed to them on a SILVER platter?!?! And, that's MY hard earned money she wants to give them!

I'm guessing the assumption is that if a housing bubble busting can cause a catostrofic downturn in what was considered a great economy, then perhaps a new housing bubble will have the reverse effect of restoring a great economy, until the bubble does what bubbles have a tendency to do. Bust... while at the same time increasing inflation for the simple reason that housing prices will go up by 25 grand, but who cares, because there are a plethora of first time home buyers, probably both legal, and illegal in waiting. Falling into the now lowering lending rates with perfect timing, which, the past has also shown to contribute to increased home selling prices.

If the Republicans have any sense, should they win this coming or any of the near future elections, they should just shrug and get on board because when that bubble bursts, they are going to catch blame anyway! Though if they are smart, they should use the threat of increasing the lending rate to hobble inflation and prolong the life of the bubble. This is probably what the Democrats plan to do, and it does make for an amazing sounding campaign promise while providing a possible solution to how to house all the many people coming across the border, without actually saying that there is a problem with the present border policy.
