I made this dress from a cream colored cotton bed sheet and I received many compliments when I wore it to an event yesterday. Thanks so much! One stylish young lady likes it so much that she wants me to teach her how to make one for herself, with an upcycled sheet, like mine.

I love how the shirring looks on that fabric! The little embroidered flowers bunch up so perfectly. Also love how you set the sleeves in. I haven’t given shirring a go yet- but I’m totally going to give it a try soon.

Just found out a few weeks ago that my wife (who has miles more sewing experience than I) has never actually sewn a garment before.
This is exactly her thing right now and you explain things so well, I think it might be a good first for her.
Thanks for sharing!

Such a cute dress! I used this technique back in the 70s when I was in high school to make some summer tops.

Yes yes yes! This is what I have been searching for! I need those sleeves to stay up. I wonder if I can take apart my dress and redo the sleeves like this 🥰

Perfect timing! I just bought fabric for a shirred dress for my mom and was trying to figure out how I was going to make the sleeves stay up. Thank you for showing me!
