Tributes pour in for Gospel Icon Pastor Neyi Zimu

Tributes are pouring in for the gospel singer after he passed away at Busamed in Modderfontein last night. We are joined in studio by Gospel artists, Omega Khunou and Dr Tumi as well as Spirit Music Managing Director Aubrey PeacoCk.

I’m Zimbabwe and when this song was released I was in the middle of confusion, I needed finances to go to school and I had applied and gotten a place but the finances were not there. I was praying and fasting though I was confused and losing hope then boom this song was released. I didn’t understand it but it caught my spirit right the moment I heard it. When I later translated it, it was just confirmation that God needed me to trust him during that time and I started trusting him that he was crafting something and now I’m at school in my final year. I hope he knew that he did not only touch the lives of South Africans but also across the world. Thank you Neyi for allowing God to use you. I’ll always remember you. Rest well

I am from St. Kitts in the Caribbean and I have fallen in Love with Spirit of Praise and all their music for years now. Especially me and my daughter listens to Zimu; Modimo Ke O and she loves it. I have been trying to avoid his music ever since I heard of his death last year but his music is so powerful that I cant any more. I did that because I was trying to avoid the hurt as I lost both my mom and sister in December as well. I am Trinidad right now on Cricket Tour and I cant stop crying. I cant hold it anymore. God Bless you Pastor Neyi Zimu and just know that your music hit deep inside the Caribbean and its done its job. My 9 year old daughter love your music and me and my wife celebrated your passing in Jesus Name. I am a Zambian and the first time(last year) I listened to Jehovah Retsepile song I worshipped almost the whole night and since I was the praise team coordinator for the great UCC praise team at UNZA we decided to sing this song on one of the Sundays, people were greatly ministered to.
All I am trying to say is that Neyi Zimu touched the lives of many world wide. We will greatly miss you sir. RIP our hearts are broken.
