This is a Neil Young song all the way. The singing, the excellent twangy guitar riffs, the lyrics. All Neil all the time. Neil Young is THE MAN.

Yes, early Neil Young... his song and singing lead and lead guitar... early impressions about fame and self... One of my all-time faves... thanks again!..

Brad: "What's it about?" Neil: "I don't know, why don't you ask her?"

Yes, it’s Neil Young and I don’t mind stating that he’s a living legend. He’s one of the
most original, authentic, influential, prolific, singer/songwriter/musicians of our time.

Yes, Stills wrote the more poppy songs Like For What It's Worth, while Young wrote the darker songs. This one is about his epileptic seizures-he had one at one of their concerts.

Neil Young wrote this song as a reaction to the first taste of fame that he got from being in the Springfield. Unlike most rock stars, he hated the groupies and the hangers-on that would be hanging around the Whisky á Go Go and Sunset Strip, and as a reaction to it he actually sought shelter in platonic relationships with a couple of girls that he knew. He was always very private, even early on, and it's no surprise that as soon as his first big money came from his solo work, he bought a ranch in northern California where he could escape from all the notoriety and do all his recording there.

Psychedelic, trance inducing and hypnotic and all with incredible sound. That’s perhaps one reason the lyrics don’t need to make sense and we can put our own limitless meaning to the words. I always feel great while listening to Mr Soul . I love that 60s psychedelic era.

That was Neil singing sometimes Stephen Stills sang and sometimes Ritchie Furay did....TRUE BEGINNINGS OF COUNTRY ROCK

CSNY - though mainly known for their great vocal harmonies also have incredible guitar harmonies between Young and Stills. Their live version of Southern Man in '71 is EPIC.

I like how you guys go straight to the song without any intro. So much better then others who take 3 mins to do an intro

Two members of this group, Neil Young (who Lex spotted) and Stephen Still, are 3x members of the Rock HOF. Both as individuals. Both were inducted for Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and both for this band.

Lex has great ears. Neil Young indeed, but he sounds and looks a little different. There's also a live tv clip on youtube from this song. It's fabulous.

Weird story. Years ago I was driving home from work listening to the radio and had a semi sad nostalgic thing going on because time had moved on and I was no longer hearing the old songs I grew up with. I thought about Hello Mr. Soul and changed the station and ended up with a somewhat obscure station broadcasting off the Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Yes the song was Hello Mr. Soul. Felt the hairs rising up on that one. Now I’ll wait for your impressions of that tune.

It’s Young and Stephen Stills and the rest - Richie Furray ( Poco founder), Bruce Palmer on bass, Dewey Martin on drums

They were unbelievable live, just like Moby Grape was. A lot of growth and experimentation. It came out in Nov '67.

I read a pile of comments, noticed many people mentioning the Stones' "Satisfaction" riff being 'borrowed' but apparently no-one caught that they also showed in this song their influence of The Beatles/ John Lennon's "I'm Only Sleeping" sitar section. It's very obvious to an audiophile with a good ear and great recall. Lex would get it quick if she gave "IOS" a listen.
