Marv Adams, deputy administrator for defense programs at the National Nuclear Security Administration explained what happened in the successful fusion experiment with a prop.

Holding up a cylinder similar to the one used in the experiment he walked the audience through the process and it's implications, concluding jokingly that his department was now hiring.

Man, they got the right guy to announce this. Explained it very clearly. He made jokes. And most importantly he didn't come off as a highly trained spokesperson. Just as a guy who works in the field and is excited to talk about it.

Everyone would love science if this guy explained it all to us

This man should do more press conferences, he's kinda cool.

This has the potential to be one of the biggest game changers in all of human history, I'm glad I got to be here for it.

What you see on this man’s face and hear in his voice is the pride and joy of a man who’s life’s work has just gotten a bit closer to coming to fruition.

I wish the mainstream media would give this more attention than a 1 and a half minute clip on YouTube. This is truly a momentous achievement, and one that should be acknowledged, and celebrated across the world.

Until now, explaining the fusion achievement in clear, detailed, easy to understand terms in under 2 minutes was apparently deemed impossible by network news executives. Another breakthrough! 👏

“So this is pretty cool.” “We’re hiring!”

A succinct summary of fusion energy followed by a rising call to arms! Words to stand the test of time, surely

He sounds so proud, that's amazing what they managed to do! Congratulations to the team and everyone else who contributed to this!

You can tell he’s beaming with pride while talking about this, and he should be proud. This is a turning point for civilization, and I can’t believe I lived to see it.

Dr. Marvin Adams's delivery was excellent. What a historic moment in fusion research. Once something is realized as possible, things tend to quickly take off.

Such a significant scientific milestone for humanity. One that most people don’t understand or appreciate.

I love his level of calmness. There's no need to "sell" or hype up anything. It's like when you impressively succeed and you don't have to worry about going over minor issues. You did it.

Edit: hey ya'll, just so ya'll know I ain't reading these comments

I read about nuclear fusion in 7th grade & I'm so happy to be alive to witness this achievement. Congratulations to all the scientists involved throughout the decades for this.

If they legitimately induced fusion with a positive energy gain using that setup, I’m fairly certain they just hit a significant milestone in our history.

Another amazing step in humanity’s quest for energy! What a tremendous accomplishment!!!

This is incredible to hear. I have a family friend who works at Lawrence Livermore, and he was celebrating when they first broke even months ago - and now we're here.

This is exactly the kind of public facing image that is needed in science. Not just to explain vast complexities in the simplest form but also to inspire the younger generations.

Imagine how the researchers felt observing this for the first time. Fantastic work.

This is legitimately the most insane thing I've heard in some time. Producing energy beyond what was put in is already crazy enough but for it to happen that fast is beyond comprehension
