Building a Roller Coaster In My Backyard!

*SORRY FOR THE SCREAMING*

In this video, I'll be showing you how I built a 100 foot rollercoaster in my backyard. It was a massive project, but I'm really proud of how it turned out.

I used a combination of wood, lots of screws, and PVC pipe to construct the track, and I relied on a variety of tools including saws, drills, and hammers to put everything together. There were definitely some challenges along the way, but I was able to overcome them and it definitely payed off!

The finished rollercoaster is a ton of fun to ride, and it's been a hit with all my friends and family. Though It might not appear too safe, I can assure you nobody has been injured. Not yet anyway...

I've always been fascinated by rollercoasters, and building one in my own backyard was a dream come true. I hope you enjoy watching the process as much as I enjoyed building it! Thanks for watching!

A Tip for next time is using hot sand so all the pipes bend the same amount. Also you have to test it with weights first. It has to support %150 of the rides weight.

“It’s not the most sturdy” is definitely something I want to hear about my roller coasters

Sorry to bring it to you man, but i think a loop will just not work properly with the way you're building this thing. You'd have to redo all your track and probably make it a lot higher aswell, if you make your loop too small or too circular you'll just potentionally break your neck.
A few tips:
- Bend your PVC with hot sand to get more gradual shapes. I'm seeing some burn marks so I assume you used a blowtorch of some sort instead which leads to uneven bends.
- Don't count too much on the wooden crossties for assuming the strenght of the track, the weakest part is in the PVC which can still break or rip when the point force of the wheels becomes too large.
- Make a plan before you start building to prevent mistakes, this will save you time and money but also guarantee you more safety!
- *If* you are going to make a loop there is a very big chance your upstop wheels will press against the track if the clearance between them is too small, but you also don't want to make them too big to prevent the cart from falling off the track. A thing you can do is use thicker guidewheels so the track can't slip between them, but that's not recommended.
- Look up some other backyard rollercoasters from the "professionals" like Will Pemble or Paul Gregg, they have some very interesting stuff about backyard coasters!

Anyways I love that more and more people are starting to build their own backyard coaster, can't wait for the next video on it!

"Don't do this at home". Let's just say don't worry about that. I don't have the skill or acumen to even begin building anything like that, nor do we have the room.

I have the height, but below is the apartment complex carpark haha.

One thing at the end make the couple of end sopports wider with pvc spread them apart it would stop perfect. Just a peice if advice.

God the g forces look grim with no shallowing of the track, but at that height it’s sound 😂 looks a lot of fun and a good effort

I was thinking about something like this, how did you connect the different pieces of track together?

The screaming was actually funny, but you took out the best part of the coaster, that crazy airtime section.. you could have just made the end spike more vertical or added another couple feet and all would have been fine. You could have smoothed it out a little without ruining that glorious moment. Look for yourself.. look at the sand bags fly out of their seat 08:06
