As a coaster enthusiast it made me laugh when you showed the prices of roller coasters with pictures of coasters that costed about 40x the amount you had on screen. For example, X2 initially cost $45m to build then $10m more to renovate 💀

As a Roller coaster nerd I just want to add a couple of things:

1: your “Childhood favourite roller coaster” is a extremely common model. A Zyclon Galaxi. Over 60 were made and many still operate across the world

2: because of that your childhood roller coaster still exists. The serpent is currently being rebuilt in Spain and it will apparently reopen this year!

3: Because of that electric skateboard, this ride is technically a powered roller coaster. And since you have the ability to stop the electric current with the scoreboards controller (you basically have a on board break), this is also technically a Mountain coaster, something you find pretty often at Mountain resorts. Unironically you could have this ride installed permanently somewhere close to Yellowstone and it would look like a legit ride.

4) That graphic with the prices of different roller coasters was way way off. Like coasters that you said were worth 500K were actually in the tens of millions of dollars range. The most expensive roller coasters built by Disney and universal are close to big budget Movie prices, 100 to 300M dollars.

In case anybody is interested, the amusement park he went to as a kid was the "LeSourdsville Lake/Americana Amusement Park". "The park was sold in 1961, and following heavy competition from nearby Kings Island, it was rebranded Americana Amusement Park in 1978. An electrical fire in 1990 caused over $5 million in damages and led to bankruptcy. The park continued to operate under several different owners before eventually closing in 1999." from Wikipedia

DREW! Great mini rollercoaster! You should DEFINITELY build a Ferris Wheel to go with it! That would be awesome, rollercoaster in a ferris wheel. You could start your own mini Funfair.

As a kid, my father made a rollercoaster in his backyard with spare lumber from a construction site that let him borrow it, or so he says. Since then, I’ve always wanted to do something similar. It’s just so cool.

As SOON as you said “The Serpent” I was like… he is talking about Americana?! Then I saw the Sky Ride and my jaw dropped. Dude! Do you know how many summers we spent there?! The screeching eagle was awesome! Serpent was my favorite roller coaster EVER!!! I’m from Richmond!
