Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons, died at the age of 86 on Wednesday night. He had been undergoing treatment for prolonged illness at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for the last few days.

"For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass," said Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement announcing his death.

He is such a kind soul even though i never met him, just seeing his picture and his sufferings as he was aging and this funeral makes me want to cry.. he is like someone who has the effect of uncontrollably just softens each heart. One man did so much to make India great and was so humble never wanting anything in return except to have the joy of giving. I hope we have people following in his footsteps. What touched me to see in this Parsi man's funeral, at his death, I see 4 of the minorities all joined together ... its like the next thing he wants as his soul escalates from the earth, is for the peace and unity of India and maybe his intercession before God in heaven will cause this next historic move to be made in India.
