Tandoori Chicken Cones
COOKING AND PREP TIME: 30 minutes
SERVES 3-4 (8 cones)
INGREDIENTS
250g chicken breast
2 tortilla wraps (cut into quarters to give 8 pieces)
1 egg
1tsp crushed cumin
1tsp red chilli powder
1tsp salt
1tsp tandoori masala powder (heaped)
1tbsp cooking oil
1 1/2tsp ginger and garlic paste
Breadcrumbs for coating
Oil for deep frying
METHOD
-clean and wash the chicken and cut into small cubes
-add oil to a pan on a full flame along with the chicken and cook until the chicken turns from pink to white
-once the chicken has turned white add in the ginger and garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, crushed cumin and tandoori masala powder
-mix this all well and dry up any water let out from the chicken
-now add in 1/4 cup of water and cover and cook on a medium flame until the chicken is done
-once the chicken is done turn the flame back to high and dry up any extra water and than turn off the flame and allow to cool down properly before the next step
-once the chicken has cooled down you can now prepare the tandoori chicken cones
-for the folding technique to prepare your cones please refer to the video
-after preparing the tandoori chicken cones you can now coat them with egg and breadcrumbs
-whisk the egg in a plate and take each cone, dip it into the egg and cover all around than place into the breadcrumbs and coat it all evenly
-once all the cones are coated you may now fry them
-heat up the oil in a pan on a full flame and once it has reached the right temperature add in the tandoori chicken cones one by one
-allow them to fry them for 1 minute and than turn the flame to low and give them all a turn
-fry the cones for a total of 3-4 minutes on a low flame or until they have turned golden brown and than remove them onto a paper towel to drain off any excess oil
-Your Tandoori Chicken Cones are ready to be served. Serve with any choice of chutney/sauces. Enjoy!
Tip: once the tandoori chicken cones are coated with the breadcrumbs you may place them in an airtight container and freeze them for upto 1 month
