CES 2012: Vizio Takes On the MacBook Air

HDTV manufacturer Vizio is branching out with a line of ultra thin and light notebooks! The sleek line of notebooks have design cues which remind us of the shiny products from Apple, which is definitely a good thing. Details are scarce but IGN Senior Producer Ty Root and Executive Editor of IGN Gear Scott Lowe got an early peek, so take a look and leave us a comment telling us what you think!

Man vizio taking over man. There the leading tv in 3d, and now computers. Hell I got a 42" 3d tv and I love it. And got a vizio soundbar love tht too.. And the grand total about $600 or so. Can't beat tht

I was wondering why no one was doing this. I went looking everywhere for quality pc notebooks, but everything was made of plastic. FINALLY!

I think Vizio has done a great job on design of their Ultrabook & All-In-One Desktop. It's one of the 1st designs that look really good that aren't copying apple. Most other companies try and copy apple or don't try and fail. But Vizio has done a great job at making their own design that looks almost as good as apples. I still prefer the look of the MacBook Air, and the iMac vs Vizio is a tough choice.

Hopefully the price is better than apple's extremely HIGH price, and faster too.

One place where Visio should learn from apple, if their serious about taking on their design. If your going to announce a product, make sure it's finished.

It's not taking on the mac book air. Last time I checked apple was the only ones making super thin laptops

You know that apple will try to patent the design for their mac book airs and how they make the notebook out of all aluminum or some thing like that. Just like what they did with htc and the slide to unlock feature. If they apple thinks in anyway that another company is using anything remote

Looks pretty light on the port situation. I like to have to option to plug in any damn thing I want. Also, no specs or prices with a 4 months launch possibly coming? Eh, the all in one looks more impressive.

People who hate on Macs simply don't know what they're talking about, or they're just jelly they don't have one.
There's a reason almost all film studios, production companies, and animation studios use Macs. They're excellent for creative and artistic reasons. They're not designed for gaming, so stop using that as a reason they suck.
