Sweet!!! Loved it! Hey Kev, you seem to be one of the very few big Blender guys doing composite and video effects. Can't wait to see more of that since you're in the industry. I've been doing your tutorials and they helped me solve a problem that I've been tossing around for a few months. So thanks!! :)

If you have trouble making your planet rings around 10:30 make sure the "Wave Texture" is set to the "Z coordinate", which appears not to have been an option at the time the tutorial was made.

Over time i've learned so much from you, my friend. Simply because of the way you explain things. Thank you so much for that.

Hello Sir, you are my favorite Blender mentor on Youtube, not only because of the amazing and practical tutorials you created for free to the public, but also because of your unique sense of humor that makes the whole learning process so much more fun. I am a professional concept artist working in the game industry and just started to include 3D into my art pipeline, it immediately makes my life so much easier! Thanks a lot for your enormous help and please keep up the good work!

*The laser beams can be modded so that they are candle flames or rocket exhaust:
You can use a cone, made from a cylinder, with 20 (or more) loops cut into it, and then scale down one side of the cylinder (Proportional Editinig turned on) to give it a rounded cone shape.
Then stretch it out 5 times as long as the diameter (experiment with length to suit the project).
After you create your noise texture & animate it, and animate the Displacement modifier with an Empty, it can look like anything from a candle's flickering flame to a rocket's roaring exhuast, depending on how fast you move the Empty, and the size of the Cloud Texture settings and displacement Strength setting in the Displacemwent modifier you choose to use. :)

Great tutorial, again! I think quick effects are essential to help fill out background scenes where the viewer attention is needed elsewhere. Loved the cheap space station :-)
