It’s incredible how the brain can overrule everything when it perceives danger where there patently isn’t any. I went in a huge simulator where you were restrained in a chair and it tipped forward, moved and shook slightly, while there was an all-round cinema making it look like you were flying, swooping down cliffs and between skyscrapers. I obviously knew it wasn’t real but I was so terrified, I felt I was having a heart attack. My bloody brain was going into flat panic mode.

Not afraid of heights, as I just did the New River Gorge Bridge walk in West Virginia last weekend. No glass, no sound effects, just a very long open rail catwalk under the road deck that you take a guided tour from one side (3000 feet) to the other. You are 851 feet from the ground at the highest point and the bridge bounces, shakes and rumbles as traffic passes over the 4 lane highway just above you. It's like being on one of those shaking fun house floors except you are way high up! You can hear the whistling of the wind thru the structure of the bridge and the high pitched droning of vehicle traffic above you. All very surreal.... And yes you do have a safety harness in case you were to slip or worse, pass out.
The people in the videos who are freaking out would surely do the same on this the New River Gorge Bridge walk! Even though I'm not scared of heights, I have to admit my mouth went dry and I had to look straight ahead ever so often while I was walking....

Oh my gosh!!! My hands & feet are sweating and heart rate definitely went up watching these. But bravo to you for putting them together!! And thank you. Seriously. It’s so terrifying. I’m the same as you with glass elevators etc.

Well for me its worse as I was born with Autism or mild autism as Im 31 now and this fear has been with me since I was basically born. To this day I still cant handle them as my brain goes into overdrive and my adrenaline kicks in and my legs tremble and I have that need to crouch on almost all fours and crawl my way to the door or elevator. See when this happens to me my muscles lock up and and my legs refuse to move so my mom has to hold my hand and guide me through the catwalk or balcony to our destination.

That’s crazy, I dream that I can fly and I haven’t seen anyone who is as scared of heights as me. I went up the gondola and froze, I almost jumped onto a small maintenance platform half way up the mountain. After I got off at the top I cried for more than 10 minutes, shaking profusely barely able to walk right.

To be fair I didn’t know they didn’t strap you in and you are just free hanging.

welp, i get panic attacks while driving. i don't drive on the interstate and i have to take medication even when driving on local streets. it's something i've been dealing with for about 30 years and it's annoying. it's especially annoying because the united states does seem to be a "drive culture". sigh...i suppose it's my raging limbic amygdala doing this (i always say, "i have an over exaggerated sense of self-preservation"). i've tried cognitive behavioral therapy, but it just made me feel inadequate because i couldn't really do it.

I'd be crawling. I was hugging the wall on the 10th floor of some units. Open walkways about a metre wide. Lol

Oh heck No!!! The breaking glass. Thats cruel. LoL I was a Marine who went everywhere with helicopters. We would slide down the middle. Or rappel out the sides. I was so scared everytime. I just didn’t show it.

I have a problem going on an escalator. If the escalator is open, I can see down to the floor. On the third floor, my kid and I went from the movies, and I was looking for an elevator. But shit I needed to go down the eschlator. I was so scared. My legs were trembling. Has to do with the fact that I have EP also.
