I've been listening Periphery for ages. Each Album has it own beauty. There are days there I feel like having a blast and some days there i have a black minute. In my opinion there isn't a good or bad album, it's a matter of condition. All 3 LPs and the Clear EP are masterpieces!

Im glad they chose semicomplex geometric shapes as their album cover. Not enough metal bands do that.

Jesus H. Christ these ‘Give me the OG Periphery sound’ comments are getting ridiculous now and I’m surprised the band haven’t gone insane from them. It’s the same shit on every goddamn Periphery video. To the guys saying they should suck it up and not listen anymore, yeah, you should. If you don’t like their new direction then stop listening. All people need to say is “Nope, still not for me” but people keep insisting for instrumental versions of their albums and bashing Spencer’s vocals. The same tired ass arguments. Spencer is a part of the band whether you like it or not and honestly if I was Spencer I’d feel pretty offended that people want me out of the picture, especially considering his constant improvement as a vocalist.

You may have enjoyed P1’s vocals more cause Spencer didn’t write the majority of them but now the band is being more collaborative. It’s no longer “Misha Mansoor & Friends”, and for some that sucks, and that’s fine you’re entitled to your opinion. You’ll always have P1 and Bulb’s solo stuff but Periphery is turning into a different band now, and have been for some time. Which also makes me laugh when people say all their albums sound the same while others say they’re too different.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a polarising band and fanbase before. Probably the reason why their becoming exponentially more popular.

I think that the people who are hating on this (and juggernaut) need to just stop listening to periphery. It's not the misha mansoor project anymore. It's written by multiple people and they will never sound like p1 and p2 again. That being said, i think they are still trying to find their sound as a band (which never really ends) and they will perfect how they write. All of the members write music and all of them just need to find their place in the machine. Every band grows (mostly) and matures, periphery is doing that right now. Even bands that have been together 20+ years are still finding their sound. And if they aren't trying to, they don't care about the music anymore. bottomline, periphery love to write music and they have no reason to listen to any of you. It's their band can do what they want to do. They are doing great things musically... regardless of the fact that some of you guys have your heads up your asses and think that enjoying a band means you are the owner and know what is best. You don't. It is not your band and they have stated that they make music selfishly (as they fucking should have the right to do).

who is doing the drums in these mixes.
i wish they would go back to those P1 punchy drums. in find juggernaut and now the p3 teaser to be a little disappointing. song writing is brilliant though

Correct me if i'm wrong, but is this album mostly just Misha's writing, as opposed to juggernaut?

Periphery fanboys, it's okay if other Periphery fans complain about new material. I still think Periphery is a monumental band that has pioneered the djent genre (I surrender, it's no longer simply an onomatopoeia since the word itself spawned perhaps hundreds of bands copying them and pushing the 'djent' movement) that deserves much respect. I am not disrespecting Periphery by stating what kind of sound I prefer hearing from them.

With that being said: I have been disappointed with every album since P1. It isn't because I'm not okay with a new or further developed and refined sound. It's also not because "bands need to sound the same forever." That's ridiculous. It's because I haven't enjoyed Spencer's vocal performance or production at all since his initial recordings in P1. There was clearly some sort of approach to the vocal production that was rethought between P1 and P2 onward. Maybe it was simply Sabol's influence on that first album that is inherently lacking in Periphery's latest albums, or maybe it's because the production process is entirely different, or maybe it's a combination of these things and perhaps more I'm unaware of. Either way, I wish they would release an instrumental version of their albums because I love the topnotch musicianship they consistently bring to the table, I just grow tired of Spencer's style. I also wish Misha didn't so vehemently cling to this "we're not an instrumental band" idea in order to unreasonably justify not releasing instrumental versions. Sure. It's your band, Misha. Do what you want. But it only punishes fans whom prefer no vocals. Instead of giving fans the option to give money to a version they'd prefer to spend their money on, they're told to deal with Spencer's vocals or buzz off.

Also, these teasers are underwhelming and not really much of a teaser at all with these 2 to 3 second clips. I'm not excited when I watched this or the prior teaser. I wish I was. I'm sure the guitar, bass, drum, and programming (aka: everything except the vocals) will be fantastic as is par for the Periphery course. I'll still listen to it and be impressed with the production as a whole. I also anticipate disappointment with the vocal performance and lyrics because yes, they still don't live up to the bar that was set in P1 in my opinion; and that's okay.

Do I hate Periphery for developing its sound further or being a band that changes? Not at all. Am I disappointed in the vocal production since P1? Yes. Does that make me a terrible person who needs to just get over it and support the band no matter what kind of stylistic decisions it makes? No, it doesn't. It simply means I prefer their original approach to vocal production and writing, and I always take it into account because that was the original sound that drew me to Periphery in the first place.
