Day 11 of the Do the 100 Day Project! Personal reasons precluded me from being able to post more this week, but I am happy to be back and sharing with you!
This Apolytikion was requested by Fr. Peter and Olenka Galadza via email. I thank them very much for requesting this hymn.
The hymns commemorating martyrs of the church are often in mode 4 (which I harmonized in a western way, although the melody is traditional). This musically major sound can be confusing when relating to deaths that were violent and brutal. However, for me on a personal note, this has taught me a lot about gratitude and patience. If these people faced the absolute worst in their lives, I can aspire to emulate their grace in significantly less taxing matters in life.
