Not for unclaimed deposits but for unclaimed insurance govt has to make it mandatory for insurance companies to track the nominee.

SBI is so smart that they made search of such accounts impossible by making the address field mandatory. Not sure what's with SBI, they always find a loophole in RBI rules.

Recently RBI issued a direction regarding this. Unclaimed deposits for 10 yrs would be used towards financial/banking literacy of people and some other things for betterment of people in general. Neither banks, nor RBI, noone would get this money. 🤣
