Hello from Enthusiastic Steve, First a big shout out to Coastal Waves and Wires, if you have not seen his channel drop by, info in the video.
I get a lot of comments from local amateur radio operators about my SKIPMASTER Antenna (AKA GAINMASTER) that I have mounted in a tree!
They constantly tell me it won't work there, it needs to be up in the open, I am constantly getting ribbed about it.
Well this video should quieten those comments.
As we are very near the Solar Maximum, conditions across the HF (Shortwave) spectrum have at times come alive.
The 10m band is no exception, and having my tree mounted antenna low to the ground seems to have enhanced its ability to both hear and receive distant rf signals.
We sometimes forget that "Skip" comes in from above or from close to or Just above the Horizon, it is neither truly vertical or horizontal polarized once it has refracted off the layers in the atmosphere, maybe once twice or more times before reaching your antenna. So antenna polarization is not an issue.
An antenna raised slightly off the ground works very well and being lower avoids picking up too much local interference (RF noise).
So if a HAM/AMATEUR radio operator, a CB radio user or short wave listener this antenna can give surprising results.
This is just my take on this antenna, a 5/8th vertical, can be used on the 12m, 11m and 10m bands (a tuner may be required), it still gets me out to most local radio users though challenging small hills are difficult to get over/around from my location.
Thank you for watching, please have a browse over my other content, click like and subscribe and a massive appreciative thank you to all my current subscribers, it helps my channel grow. Please feel free to share content to other groups/users.
Enjoy the hobby, remember it should be fun, talk with other like minded radio users and enjoy.
Regards Enthusiastic Steve
