That black meteorite weapon is awesome. If you want to kill any npc or big enemy like black Knights easily then use the special attack of this sword. It melts all of them.

In that forge there is a lever on the other side of the gate. It is set a little far back on the right hand side which is very easy to miss, I missed that every single time I went down that path. That lever is a lot easier to use since you don't have to rush to get to the gate, which happened to me 3 times.
