This model discourages direct purchases, which are vital for smaller developers to continue making quality games.

Secondly, Game Pass encourages a "race to the bottom" mentality, where quantity is prioritized over quality. It shifts player expectations—people become accustomed to having instant, low-cost access to games. This devalues the hard work developers put into their games, especially for indie titles, which already struggle to stand out.

Developers are then pressured to make games that are better suited for quick consumption rather than deep, meaningful experiences. Some may feel the need to produce content faster or conform to what they think will perform well on a subscription service, which limits creativity and innovation.

Lastly, by pushing more developers toward a subscription model, we're moving away from an ecosystem where games can thrive independently based on merit. Game Pass consolidates power in the hands of big companies like Microsoft, creating a scenario where they dictate the terms, potentially limiting creative freedom and reducing financial security for devs that rely on individual sales.

In the long term, this hurts the diversity of the gaming landscape and ultimately makes things worse for everyone, developers and players alike
