Is this open-topped SUV the ultimate crossover?

The word 'crossover' is common in the car industry, but the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet takes it to the extreme by throwing open-air motoring into the mix. So, is this thing the ultimate automotive mash-up? Rebecca Jackson finds out in this CarGurus UK review.

I love this car. Even with all the negatives. But then again I loved the Nissan Juke when it first came out and everyone made the same references about that. An acquired taste I suppose. Thanks for a lovely classy review Rebecca.

Well that review was very helpful to me. Looking for a 4 seat compact convertible to replace my TT roadster. Not bothered about having a SUV but thought this might be good. Unfortunately its very overweight and that it seems adversely affects the ride and the handling. The boots size is the same as my TT (which is fine) but access to it looks like a back breaker. Scratchy plastics aren't the end of the word but overall its a NO from me. On the plus side the roof opening mechanism is quick and uncomplicated unlike most other 4 seater convertibles.

This thing costs twice as much as the average regular T-Roc in my market but none of the perceptable quality goes up, so you're paying upwards of 45k € for a 150hp economy car with all the practicality removed.

I thought to myself, with the roof being up, Rebecca would not have a need to mention her height she didn't disappoint, she still mentioned her five foot four and a half inch stature, she never disappoints 😂 Not so sure about the car, though, It's not on my want list

I like this car. My first two cars have been convertibles (after I stopped going around in motorcycles) and I drove them roof down 80% of the time, including in winter in Germany. Simply loved it. Now close to early retirement but still feeling very young the T-roc Cab really attracts my attention: enough space for four (or two plus the dog) if really needed on short stretches, enough luggage space (fold away rear seats) for short holiday trips with my better half or on my own. Decent alternatives are all much more expensive, such as Audi A2, BMW 2, Mercedes. Evoque (never like that look though). Your perfect every day short distance open top car. Will get one.

A small "Stupid Ugly Vehicle" with character which could be fun to drive, alas the muppet masses have been brainwashing into thinking they need a much bigger hardtop SUV to promote their success and status in society. I think my Audi A3 convertible is probably better to drive and more fun, but I like this car, convertibles are a dying breed in a world saturated with unbelievably boring "practical" SUVs.
