Gale Banks is the Einstein of engines. The research and development is the cutting edge of the industry. The world records, innovation, and technology is second to none. 800 hours at what I recall at 750 hp wide open is incredible. That is your military contract. Anyone that has a negative comment don't know thing about what Gale has accomplished. Those people might have trucks that spin tires on wet ice. If you want record breaking engines, Gale Banks all the way. Go look up Gale Banks in the Guinness Book of World Records. Keep up the videos Gale. A+

Other channels: after 15 minutes of "ok guys, like and subscribe", they get around to the question in the title. Banks Channel: Open with the answer, explain it like an expert, end.

Thank you.

He knows... what he's talking about. I love this guy.

The Banks Derringer in-line tuner is outstanding. Lowered my 1/4 mile time two-tenths, and I gained 4 MPH through the traps. That's substantial in comparison to a stock L5P. I'll be posting a stock L5P vs my Banks Derringer L5P side-by-side quarter mile drag race soon. The 30-90 MPH roll-on acceleration is fantastic.

When this guy starts talking, do yourself a favor and start listening.

Keep at it Gale, love these videos where you explain exactly what's going on. Makes me at least trust that you know what you're talking about and have reliability in mind which a diesel truly needs.

I love listening to Gale speak. Real engineers are hard to keep up with, but he makes it fun. Plus it's all about efficient POWER. Science the shit out of it....

I'm not sure there is any corollary here but as an old US MarineAV-8A/B Harrier technician, one of the things we learned about the intake configuration was that the large dual intakes with side velocity flow gates used on the single large turbofan Rolls Royce F402/4/8 series of engines used to provide enough thrust for vertical take offs & landings at slow and no forward speed, limit the aircraft airspeed at the upper end of the performance envelope because they produce so much pressure and drag at the intake entrance and around it that a pressure barrier develops in front of them that disrupts airflow and increases drag. Engine water injection was used to increase thrust by about 2, 000 lbs and provide temperature control during full throttle high angle nozzle exhaust VSTOL flight.

I love how he actually searches for WHY things work the way they do rather than just throwing stuff on until something breaks.

It’s because you create a standing shockwave wherever the “throat” is on the turbine outlet... and once you create a shockwave, it’s a discontinuity that separates the upstream and downstream pressures. Supersonic aerodynamics are fascinating. It’s literally rocket science... supersonic flow through a nozzle, which is how we build rocket engines.

So in short the vgt l5p turbo helps for fast turbo spool up in the low rpm ranges and if pushed to its limits through tuning the inlet pressure excedes boost pressure critically raising exhaust gas tempetures to dangerous level because the turbo exhuast turbine cant flow out the last cc events fast enough so the solution is to replace to a better turbo where it dosent hinder spool up performance?

Does this guy remind anyone of Robert Duvall? I’m thinking “Days of Thunder” without the ball cap.

Gale is a very good engineer, and also a very good salesman, some of his products are worth buying, some are just money shams..

One of the very few people I trust on performance parts Gale banks is the man

I have a 1992 F350 with a Banks Side Winder turbo, needing a rebuild kit or cartridge and an exhaust impeller wheel, think Banks would have the parts? NO! Thanks a lot Banks! now I got a dinosaur nobody can

You werehousehold name in my neighborhood 40 years ago. With that being said there's a great deal of respect. My current issue is the fact that I recently spent two grand having the big ass intake with the 5-in exhaust and the power control module on the dash to no avail. I simply towed a 13, 000 lb fifth wheel from Michigan to Idaho round trip elk hunting. On number six setting in the mountains there was absolutely zero noticeable difference in power. My lp5 2018 is a pig. Even with the upgrade. I think I'm supposed to trade it in on a Ford or something.

Gale, I noticed that when you mentioned a larger turbo you get turbo lag, but when you said compound turbos you didn't have a negative associated with that. Is the problem with compounds mostly packaging or is there something else? Or do you just prefer supercharging?
