SOS - ABBA (Original Mix with Swedish Vocal) 1975

Показать описание
I lived during the era of ABBA, saw them in concert and time with perspective has only further solidified the total value of the majority of their creative popular music genius.
ABBA sings to the heart of the matter, they draw and hold you in the duration of the idea they’re communicating.
As annotated in the Instrumental version notes, SOS is the mother of all pop songs and you’d have to be clinically deaf not to feel some kind of response.
This is the original instrumental backing, with Agnetha’s 1975 Swedish vocal, which was on her 1975 solo album ‘Elva kvinnor i ett hus’ roughly translates as ‘Eleven Women In A House’
I always found that Swedish version, particularly unsatisfying in its slightly stripped back mix, well with technology as it is, it was possible to extract the vocal from the Swedish version and drop it on the original mix and it sounds great !
Late 2021, the super group known as ABBA debuted their new music album called Voyage.
These musical masters are now in their 70’s and the excitement amongst some quarters is quite palpable, returning with a new album with new music and a digital avatar tour that found the members in a studio warehouse in London, going through the dance moves for five weeks.
Abba’s digital avatars were created using motion capture technology, similar to that used by Andy Serkis and others to portray CGI beasts in Hollywood movies: the group was filmed in skintight suits for the lifelike recreations.
Wayne McGregor, resident artist at London’s Royal Ballet, choreographed the band’s performance, and an 850-strong team from George Lucas-founded effects company Industrial Light & Magic designed and animated the de-aged avatars from the footage.
Recreating those ABBA moves with 160 cameras on them, they were digitally recorded to allow Lucasfilm, using performance capture techniques, to create an almost life like avatar concert tour that is on the cutting edge.
From Panavision music clips in the 70’s, music videos, the theatrical Mamma Mia, the Movies and now a virtual concert !
The effort and attention to detail these people exhibit is just out of the ordinary, whatever they do !
All at once humble and measured in their attitude, this refreshing example is definitely old world and something we could use more of and now at the latter stage of their career, this new Voyage project is exactly on their own terms and their professional perfectionism will give us new musical experiences to indulge and enjoy in.
ABBA will live forever !
ABBA managed to explore and extrapolate their personal lives and ideas into lyrics, adding all their musical influences and constructed meaningful, highly accessible and memorable songs that just keep on giving, the unconditional giving from ABBA captured in time just resonates on and on and on … oh yea, that’s a lyric song title from Super Trouper album :-)
