The history of Hekla, Iceland's most famous volcano

Hello everybody! Hope you’re doing great and are ready to learn something new about Hekla

Hekla has to be the most famous volcano in Iceland throughout history. The mountain its self is beautiful and it has made itself present every now and then with larger eruptions that cause major damage. The mountain rises a mear 1488m above sea level and has a ridge-like look to it but it is considered to be a volcano cone. This can be explained by Heklas geologically young age which is estimated to be only around 7000 years old. So with that out of the way let's talk more about Hekla's details, history and future.

My grandparents and my mother saw Hekla's 1970 eruption. My mom said she got close enough that a tiny piece of tephra hit her in the forehead. I still have her framed photos of the eruption on my wall. I'm going to send her a link to this video. I'm sure she'll enjoy it.
