Motion is relative and depends on perspective. The sun is moving through the galaxy, without the galaxy as a background there is no motion.

The galaxy itself is also moving on a tangent so no it's far more complex than a corkscrew..
At around 400km/s which is incredibly fast.. but space is huge so it looks like we aren't really moving at all..

You're right we don't complete a closed orbit around the Sun and because of what you said except for the fact that if the Galaxy itself wasn't moving we would the galaxies moving as well so we're moving in three directions not two

Seeing that whirwild of planets around a racing star only made me realize one thing.

Relativity is a fearful but amazingly nuanced concept. No wonder it took one of our best geniuses to figure it even existed. Shoulder of giants indeed.

It's amazing that the center is always what we realize were wrong before :
From "Hearth is the center" to "Sun is the center" to "we don't know where the center is but our galaxie is rotating around him IF there is a center"
