Hello everyone, Welcome to Travelzilla, please join me on a AIRPORT REVIEW. This time I will give you a quick tour of the SANTORINI AIRPORT, the main port of entry to the paradisiac island of SANTORINI in GREECE. Here I talk about the airport, stats and information, talk about the airport mandate and administrator, german giant FRAPORT which is responsible for 14 greek airports as well as airports around the world. Talk about how to get to SANTORINI AIRPORT by bus, taxi, van or by car. The airlines that fly to the SANTORINI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, the investment on infrastructure that has been made by FRAPORT and how I think that the airport needs to expand further.

Fraport has increased the size of the Santorini Airport Terminal, has increased the number of check in counters ( more than doubled it) has doubled the number of baggage belts of carousels and has invested on the improvement of the aircraft runway and parking.

0:55 i have a 6:05am flight on a weekday, how is it possible if the airport is closed?

A little background information: tourism arrivals only very recently grew dramatically. Passenger numbers between the early 90s and 2012 grew slowly from 400, 000 to 800, 000, then it shot up to 2.2 million in 2019 (and 2022 is projected to come close to that). Fraport took control of the airport in 2015. The previous year (2014) passenger numbers were 1.4 million. They expanded the terminal for that number. They didn't foresee tourism outgrowing it that quickly. It's a similar story in Mykonos and Corfu. Not sure about the other airports. So, that's why it's crowded. Santorini needs to stop allowing new development, and the existing hotels need to raise their prices.

Very nice video Rodrigo. You were there at the height of the tourist season no wonder it was packed. How long do you think it will take without pre-check in? Did you spot Priority check in counters other than the drop off baggage counter?
