i have used Wise for over 12 months for a monthly income from Europe. Transferring it from Euros to AUD. I am saving at least $300 a month by using Wise instead of getting it exchanged through my bank. Definitely a great choice and I can use it in most of the countries I travel to. Sold on it for sure

Brought to you by a pair sponsored by Wise!

But yes it does work and it's a good card to set up before you go (you can put your home money into other countries' currencies if you like), or just use it like a normal card (it has Visa on it too but with no credit supplied). But, your best bet is to set yourself up to use your normal card/s AND Wise - set them up in case one or the other goes wrong. NB: Wise is a debit card, meaning it uses your own money and it will run dry if your own money runs dry. Hotels and car rental joints in various countries thus won't be too happy about that - they want you to have credit on Visa or Mastercard (but not always). And, there have been reports of Wise balances going "missing" for varying periods of time (days or weeks). As to fees, yes of course Wise has fees but it works on the mass volume principle, so it's fees are less. Don't believe everything you hear from spruikers like this guy btw, obviously he's gaining from it (or trying to).

I used to swear by Wise but exchange rates and ATM fees after withdrawing the max per month made me seek alternatives. Have now been travelling for 3 months in SEA and the UP card is far superior but only available to Australians.

Can I use Wise in Thailand? I'm travelling to Thailand this September from the UK

Wise is costly for ATM withdrawals. Charles Schwab refunds all ATM fees, and you get the mid-market exchange rate.

As mentioned earlier, Wise doesn't have credit cards but DEBIT Visa Cards. That is why they are not blocked so quickly by your bank.
Transfer big money, ex. buying a house, via Wise can be costly.
You constantly speak about hidden fees, but important to tell that there are non-hidden fees, also when you want to withdraw at an ATM!
But that been said, Wise is indeed the best option for daily use.

Is this wrong or are you deliberately misleading your viewers:
“With a Wise card, you can make two free ATM withdrawals of up to 100 USD (or equivalent in your currency) per month, after which a fee applies.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Free Withdrawals:
You can make two withdrawals per month, each up to a value of 100 USD (or equivalent) without any fees.
Fees after free withdrawals:
After the two free withdrawals, a fee of 1.5 USD per withdrawal plus a 2% fee on any amount withdrawn over 100 USD will apply. “

I was one of their first customers asI had a friend working for them stateside.. I have used the WISE card in various locations globally etc. The only issue I have with them was their customer service when needing a new card sent to me in Europe, had the usual 3 reps 3 different answers etc eventually I figured how to arrange the new card being sent etc. Outside of that issue the card has been a very good experience over the years paying, cash withdrawals and ban to bank transfers etc . Cheers and na zdrowie

Capital 1 and Discover does not charge foreign transaction fees and give the current day exchange rate. Charles Schwab debit card refunds all ATM fees at the best current exchange rates plus the money in your account draws interest.

OK, so let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. positive aspects of WISE: great mid-market conversion rate, great for paying in own or other currencies. Ok for 🏧 withdrawals, but only within limits. If you tap and pay most transactions and withdraw less than $200USD over 2 withdrawals in a calendar month, this card is solid. Beats most alternatives for Australians hands-down. Especially normal credit cards or those travel cards the banks try to sell. Cash sounds good because the conversion rate in SE Asia is favourable, but if you already changed to USD in Australia you have already lost 2%. Add to that the pitfalls of carrying large quantities of cash. I'd limit myself to $1000. It gets you out of trouble when there's an internet outage or for some reason none of your cards are accepted.

Any time I travel to Europe I use my Wise card. I can add money from my bank account to the card in seconds using the app on my phone. Super handy. Never need to go get cash. Very convenient.

Hey guys, what laptop do you use?

I’m trying to choose between the 13” and 15” for long time travel, but have difficulty with the decision.

I know the 13” is definitely the favourite here, because it’s smaller and 0.5 pound lighter, but the 15” is definitely a more comfortable screen real estate for working (and is still lightweight)

What’s your experience like? Any help is appreciated :)

The problem with Wise and why I stopped using it - is it has a limit on withdrawals..

I used Wise until the 1.75% plus ATM fees made me look elsewhere. If you transfer, the fees can be killer also. Not what they used to be that for sure.

It's a great card, which my Ozzie mate used throughout Europe abd also here, but if you live/domicile in Thailand you can't get the card. It hasn't been approved here. I am on their waitlist.
