Planting Some New Camellias - Fall Flowering Evergreen Shrubs -
In this video I plant some new Camellias from the Southern Living Plant Collection in the garden. October Magic® Orchid Camellia has pink and white variegated flowers and can be kept smaller than most Camellia Sasanqua varieties. Alabama Beauty™ Camellia has solid deep pink flowers and can reach over ten feet in height.

I live on a shaded woodland acreage in zone 7b and just this year discovered the beauty of camellias. I've planted 10 of the sheshe variety and today I plan to plant 2 of the japonica. I'm only 72 so I hope they don't grow too slowly. I love your channel. I learn so much from your great descriptions.

I have 9 sheshe's 6 Japonicas and 20 sasanquas. Love them all. Only one sasanqua has up and died on me. Could've been over watering done it in, I'm not sure. I find that they flower more than just in the fall. I almost forgot my favorite, I have a specimen camelia x Egao corkscrew Camelia, it's a slower grower than the rest of them and has pink semi double flowers. The branches have a corkscrew growth, almost deformed looking. I removed the flower buds the first couple of seasons to promote plant growth.

Grow great in the sandy soill of South Jersey. Just add a little peat moss .. Quite a few can grow here should be more used in the Mid-Atlantic region.

My leaves started getting black spots on them over the winter. It had beautiful flowers on them but the stormy rainy weather knocked them all down to my disappointment. Not sure if the black spot is a fungus or because of insects. Hoping for a milder season this coming year. Very low maintenance. I just love them

It seems all my camellias died this week when the temperature hit 112 degrees in Texas. They were in partial shade and I thought they were getting enough water but my spinkler station went out of action without my knowledge when a pebble got stock in the lead head and blocked off all the water to the whole group of camellias.

I am going to pick up 5 pots of camellia next week from a seller. I live in Maryland zone 7a. Should I plant them right away since I have heard people say because the room temperature is high and inside the house is very dry because of the heat, some camellia died. Please let me know what soil do I need to buy from Homed Depot. Thanks

I just planted 3 camellias Sasanquas, today. They’re full of buds with some flowers. Question- Is it OK to prune a few errant branches now or should I just leave them alone after they are done blooming? Thanks Jim.

Is it possible that there are sasanqua camellias that bloom more than once? A local shop owner that sells them told me they do. I've always heard otherwise though.

Hi, what would be the absolute least amount of sun, in the coastal south 8b, a sasanqua can get yet still bloom? Thanks.

Do they benifit birds, bees and butterflies? I like the part that they are shade loving.

Can sasanqua varieties be cut back hard to a foot or two like a Holly? Mine is 20 years old, probably 10' by 10' and thinned out from too many surrounding shade trees that have since been removed.

I have five Camelias. They were doing very well, but then three of them the leaves started turning brown, completely dried up,
and are now deadI have no idea what happened. I’m thinking over feeding them or over watering. Any one that has any idea, please let me know.
