Zac is always one of my favorite guests on podcasts. Such a wealth of knowledge both in herpetoculture and crayfish.

Saw this pop up while trying to figure out how I would go about keeping a false water cobra in Illinois, and now I want to buy a book along with a false water cobra. First time seeing the podcast and hadn't ever heard of Dr. Loughman. Seems like a guy that loves what he does and could teach the world a lot of things. I love my Burmese Python, but now I really want a false water cobra! Great episode!

I don't know how I missed this but my favorite episode ever for any video!! The False water cobra will always be my favorite snake as well and I love knowing more about them! Hearing this from Zach is legendary in my mind and I'm sad I also missed the opportunity for the book!
Thanks a ton for your Channel and engagement you have on this lifestyle of keepers! You bring to light I believe more people should see as a staple to husbandry, diy, and just knowledge in general about out herp! 💪

though it's definitely definitely not holistically accurate and i've never cared for a falsie, i've used the analogy that corn snakes are golden retrievers and falsies are border collies or huskies when someone who hasn't had a pet snake wants to know why someone would pick a certain species. this was a great episode that reaffirmed that lolol

I target-trained my tegu to a bright blue target and it worked amazingly well. So well that I started to see him eyeing up people's blue shirts and nail polish. So we've backed off on the target training thing.

Very interesting. Appreciate the information. I'm hoping to get a baby falsie this breeding season. I'm curious to see how they compare to the Vietnamese Blue Beauty. Mine is extremely shy, but tamed down within a week. Now she cruises her enclosure and particularly after it get watered and investigates everything. She is still too young let her out to roam, so that will be an interesting experiment.

The filter 1:18:47 i would start with measuring the particles size, in um, and i would use multiple working down to the minimum you think you need, so example, move from a 40um to 100um then 400um, so it maynot clug so simply. I planed on starting with rocks, letting the sedimentation filter to The Rock, then into a filter and down to the pump

I have a yearling bullsnakes and I have similar experiences regarding his intelligence. I put a really bug fake plant in his enclosure and he was all over it for a while, now he doesn’t really care about it. He is currently still too shy to come out but he is almost always watching you. And he was also a really fast learner regarding target training.

FWCs are one of my dream species, I guess big, active strong and smart snakes are my jam. 😁

I was confusing dipsadid with diaspora for the first half of this episode. This book is next in my queue!

I have always been attracted to the falsies. If I were much younger, it would be so gratifying to develop a relationship with one.
Outstanding episode, Dillon! Thank you and Zac, both.

Hello, I loved this podcast! I have a question? Does the female False water cobra get bigger than the male?

I'm not really fascinated by these snakes, but I do think I really would enjoy reading this book. Being a life longer learner, more knowledge is exciting.
