That's the thing many people don't understand about socialist criticism of capitalism. It's not inherently bad, and it's a necessary passage, and it produces wealth, but at the same time we can and must do better. If left unchecked, it produces vast amounts of inequality, pollution, the potential for abuse and exploitation is infinite. It was OK while it lasted, but it's got to change now.

It is the height of human arrogance to believe the present is the peak of humanity. Socialism won't be the end stage either. People will find ways to improve socialism too.

Capitalism is the only proven engine of wealth creation. Socialism robs all the fruits of excellence, success, invention, entrepreneurship to subsidize mediocrity and failure. The Soviet saying sums it up; we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us. The US industrial economy is the greatest engine of wealth creation that ever existed. For example, it was US industry that created and sustained modern China. Now that it has bit the hand that fed it too hard and too often that engine is being decoupled and China is reverting to the starving dirt farm it was before it was so desperate it would allow foreign investors to do anything.
