The Anatomy of a 72 year old Drummer (ME)
I started playing at 19. Kind of old and took lessons one year every week. That was 1963. Played till 26 then quit due to four mouths to feed and lack of space and time to practice. Started playing again in 2005 after I became disabled with a crippling disease called C.I.D.P. This is an auto immune and creates numbness in both hands and feet. Drumming again provided the perfect physical therapy to combat my disease. Having prior knowledge of beats and rudiments helped but the road has been difficult. I love fills but did not know how to apply them to song structure. It took me ten years to get my hands, timing and rhythm back to be able to play any song fairly well. All genres. 6 years ago I started recording myself every time I played then got into video making. I used electronic drums. Recording in my opinion is the greatest learning tool there is. I improved immensely by it. Every time I play, I record it, then put it on my I pod to listen to at the gym or during the night when I'm sleeping. Music by playing the drums has had a very positive effect on allowing me to function in spite of my C.I.D.P. I also train at the local gym 3 to 4 times a week. I live in Boynton Beach, Florida. About five years ago I took some lessons from a great teacher briefly. However.. I believe lessons can take you only so far... understanding in your mind when to hit it and be quiet comes only thru persistent practice. Recording is icing on the cake for your ears don't deceive you. Your ears will inform you as to how far your improvement has become.. Mine does. That's all the satisfaction I need !

All my video's are for entertainment ONLY.  I make them mainly for FUN not to infringe on any copyrights.  No income is derived from any of my videos.  My style is geared to compliment the melody (singer) more than just keeping the BASIC beat.  In my opinion it makes the video more exciting.  I do not encourage any drummer to do that for they will be band less quickly.
